GIRLHOOD

Men believe that they are the superior gender, they may pretend to be feminists but the vast majority, very secretly do believe that there is no other being higher than themselves and their “feminism” is actually them being weirdly patronising with the sole aim of getting into our pants.

I’ll allow them to feel as superior as they want because I know that Men will never experience:

  • hearing 3000 different playlists as you and your friends ( GIRLS) get ready

  • having morning debriefs with ratty hair and smudged eye-liner

  • making a border-line healthy meal that is not actually healthy thanks to the hoards of cheese you empty onto it whilst also simultaneously listening to the Gossip Girl soundtrack

  • actually having meaningful friendships…

yikes…

I ‘m kidding (sort of)… but recently ( ever since I watched the Barbie movie) I have become obsessed with the idea of girlhood and noticing moments that prior to the movie, I would’ve ignored. It’s sitting with your friends whilst watching TV, it’s those little glances at each other across the bar when someone is annoying you.

With every second that I spend thinking about my female friendships, the more I want to distance myself from every male I’ve mistakenly become friends with ( becuase they very obviously somehow swindled me into the friendship) (I’m joking…)

Female friendships are incomparable because no matter what we look like, no matter where we come from, we can relate to at least something. It doesn’t have to be a big thing, a shared love of the gingham pattern can start a 10 year friendship.

It’s pretty amazing and I would recommend that people ( GIRLS) start noticing all the girlhood moments.

If the barbie movie would like to sponser me for grasping the most basic message of the story, they can contact me xx
