Knit, Knit, and More Knit

Knit, Knit and More Knit: Everything you need to know about Tink Collective

By Joda Amankrah

Nothing gets me reaching for my bank card faster than some high-quality knitwear, and Tink has delivered exactly that.

In the four months since launching Babsii, I’ve received my fair share of scam emails: offers to rebuild our website for free (not real), invitations to exclusive fashion shows (also not real), and even glamorous invites abroad (definitely not real). So, when an email from Jenny Kembou—displayed in my inbox as jenny@tinkcollective.com—popped up, I was ready to dismiss it as yet another piece of spam. Thankfully, I decided to open it.

And thank goodness I did.

This email led me straight into the world of Tink: a marketplace for creativity and a community built on collaboration, inspiration, and artistic expression. Obsessed from the get-go, I immediately marked my calendar: Tink Collective Launch, 5 December, 6 PM, Outsourced Vintage.

Not to sound overly dramatic, but getting to this event was nothing short of a battle. Our journey from Nottingham to London—a trip that should’ve been a smooth three-hour jaunt—stretched into a chaotic four-and-a-half-hour ordeal. If you’ve ever experienced London’s infamous rush-hour traffic, you’ll understand. Pair that with relentless rain, gusting wind flipping umbrellas inside out, and soggy jeans, and you’ve got the full picture of our struggle.

And that’s not all. We had a mere 15 minutes to transform ourselves from bedraggled travellers into presentable attendees, a task that involved hastily applying make-up on a jolting Tube ride. By the time we finally arrived at the venue, drenched and dishevelled, we couldn’t have been more relieved—or more excited.

Picture this: the coolest crowd imaginable, surrounded by bows, pink satin, and photo frames showcasing the early life of the mastermind behind Tink—Jenny. She’s a burst of sunshine, greeting us with an infectious smile as we step into the event.

When I ask her why she started Tink, she beams and gives a little shrug. “It’s just something I’ve always wanted to do,” she gushes. And standing there, it all makes sense. The energy in the room is electric, filled with creativity and passion. Tink isn’t just a marketplace—it’s a platform that gives artists the opportunity to share their stories, learn from each other, and connect with an audience eager to celebrate, support, and buy their work. It’s community at its most inspiring.

As I talk to people throughout the night, I come to realise that there are a lot of similarities between Tink and Babsii: a network of women working closely together to create something beautiful. And that really is what all of the knitwear exudes—beauty.

Let’s talk about some of our favourite pieces:

  • This Oversized Skirt by Snugbug:
It’s every girl’s dream! Even if you don’t get the matching jumper, this skirt paired with a white top would look amazing. Throw on some kitten heels (and for those who can’t fathom heels, some boots), and you’ve got yourself a stunner.

  • The Amber Top by Rowan Walker:
Talk about corporate badness! For most of us, our future careers are staring us straight in the eye, and for many, we’ve already started our office jobs. This top is AMAZING! Stripes (which are very in right now) and knit (which is always in)—you need this in your wardrobe.

  • Emilie Shorts by Froots:
It may not exactly be shorts weather, but a girl can never be too prepared for summer. Perfect length and simply perfect in general. Budgeting might be one your New Year’s resolutions but hey, self-gifting is key to self-love… right?
